Very Berry Smoothies!

How do you feel about smoothies for breakfast? Personally I love a good smoothie in the morning. I can add whatever ingredients I want to my blender to create a filling, nutritious and delicious breakfast. I mostly love a smoothie because it can be taken on the go and I am forever running behind in the mornings rushing the kids off to school and daycare so making breakfast on the go is essential.

Low waste tip - in the produce section, look for the older bananas that are usually 50% off - break into quarters & place on a cookie sheet in the freezer. Once frozen place the bananas in a reusable rezip or stasher bag. Perfect for popping in your morning smoothie.

Here's a quick smoothie recipe that can be adapted in so many ways.

Bonus: Our frozen fruit is on special this week :)

Very Berry Smoothie

1 c. unsweetened almond milk

1 c. baby spinach

1/3 c. frozen blueberries

1/3 c. frozen strawberries

1/3 c. frozen blackberries

1/2 of a very ripe banana (even better frozen)

1/4 c. quick oats

1 tbsp Hemp seeds

1 tbsp Chia seeds

3/4 c. greek or non dairy yogurt

Add all ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth - you can add more liquid to make a thinner smoothie or scale back to make it thicker.

Other great add ins include: flax seeds, ground flax, dates, cacao nibs, protein powder
